My childhood was filled with play, happiness, laughter, attention, love, and music. There was always something good and special playing at our house.
My parents listened to quality and diverse music of all genres. From evergreens to pop standards and R&R, sevdah was inevitable, which you could hear daily in our apartment.
That melancholic sound hypnotized me from the very beginning and led me to other dimensions. At first, as a kid, I didn’t understand what the songs were about, but I felt the emotion with my whole being.

Guided by it, I was drawn more and more into that unique world of sevdah.
Over time, I began to remember the names of my childhood heroes who lured me with songs and invited me to listen again and again.
I also began to remember the words of sevdalinka, which I then slowly repeated and hummed. Everything slowly took on meaning.
Sevdah is so relatable, woven into the ears, it easily finds its way to the heart. Events described in detail and convincingly, reveal the tradition, historical facts, and way of life of people from my region.
The way someone loves, surrenders to fate or fights for ideals, is accurately described genetically in the people of this climate.
The area where we live has a very rich and turbulent history, which is difficult to explain to visitors who come to these parts. Sevdah represents the key that unlocks the treasury and hides many stories that define BIH and the region.
Sevdah singers are narrators and guardians of our truth. Each of us who wants to talk about the true values of this country should put himself in the role of Sevdalia, a person who is full of love and understanding towards life. Sevdalija is someone who gives everything for love and expects nothing in return. He lives uncompromisingly and enjoys the blessings of life.

The scars that sevdah leaves on you are permanent, and its influences are so contagious that you keep coming back to them and experiencing them differently.
Sevdah is a mosaic that touches the soul differently, introducing you to states that you want to experience again. But don’t be sure that you will find what you experienced last time. Its fire will only warm you until it starts to act like a cold, silent river that carries away everything that no longer serves you.
